Overview

The Finance Manager is needed to help determine the strategies and initiatives the company should be pursuing to best achieve its growth objectives, as well as work closely with the IT and BI teams to develop reporting that measures performance against KPI targets.  They must be able to work closely with employees at all levels throughout the company, from Operational and Clinical staff to departments in the CSC.

Responsibilities

Financial Planning and Analysis:

  • Lead the company's Budgeting and Forecasting process, including working with Operations and CSC Departments to develop metrics based, bottoms-up projections and be involved in the evaluation of Budgeting tools (and ultimately be the System Administrator for that tool)

  • Analyze financial data, trends, and performance metrics to provide insights and recommendations to senior management.

  • Put together monthly authorization utilization and clinical productivity analyses and work with Clinical and Operational leadership in developing strategies to improve those metrics
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and revenue enhancement.

Budget Management:

  • Collaborate with department heads to create and manage departmental budgets.

  • Monitor budget variances and work with relevant stakeholders to address discrepancies.

  • Provide regular updates to management regarding budget performance.

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports to management, shareholders, and other stakeholders.

  • Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards and regulations.

Cash Flow Management:

  • Manage the organization's cash flow to ensure liquidity and efficient fund utilization.

  • Monitor and forecast cash flow requirements to prevent cash shortages.

Financial Strategy:

  • Contribute to the development and execution of the organization's financial strategy.

  • Evaluate investment opportunities, mergers, acquisitions, and other financial initiatives.

  • Analysis and trending of company performance, including:

    1) Rate analysis

    2) Payor Mix trends

    3) Hours analysis

    4) Market trends

    5) Center profitability

Risk Management:

  • Identify and assess financial risks, and implement measures to mitigate them.

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.

 

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Effectively communicate financial information and insights to non-financial stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial partners.

Technology and Systems:

  • Develop (in conjunction with IT and BI) dashboards/visualizations of financial, operational and RCM metrics, inlcuding working closely with the BI Director to accelerate the roll-out of these reports
  • Stay updated on financial software and technology advancements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

  • Implement and manage financial systems for streamlined processes.

 

Supervisory responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the finance team, providing guidance, coaching, and professional development opportunities.

  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

 

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field. Master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CFA) preferred.
Proven experience (usually 5+ years) in financial management or a related role.
Strong understanding of financial principles, regulations, and best practices.
Proficient in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and SQL.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Advanced proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Leadership and team management capabilities.
Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure.
